PRESTONSBURG, Ky. (WYMT) - Hundreds of former clients of Eric C. Conn are still waiting for answers, seven years after the high-profile social security scandal changed their lives.
With the docuseries “The Big Conn,” which dropped Friday on Apple TV+, they hope to see those answers coming soon.
A meeting held Monday in Floyd County brought former clients to watch clips from the series before hearing an update from attorney Ned Pilersdorf, who represents them in cases against the Social Security Administration . . .

‘KY Gives Day’ is a 24 hour period when non-profits across the state strive to raise as much money as possible.
Robert Johns is the Executive Director of Appalred Legal Aid. They provide free legal services and aid in civil cases to lower-income people in Kentucky.
“Housing, custody, health Care, their jobs. It shouldn’t matter if you have enough money to have an attorney, you ought to have the right to have one with you.” He said.
Appalred is taking donations for ‘KY Gives Day 2022.′

Free Legal Help Available for Kentucky Flooding Survivors
08/15/2022 – A free legal help hotline is now available for Kentucky Flooding survivors. The hotline is available to connect survivors to free legal services in qualifying counties who cannot afford an attorney. Survivors can call 1-844-478-0099 Monday – Friday 8:00am -4:30pm EST. If after business hours, messages can be left and calls will be returned on the next business day.
Attorneys Ellen Johnson and Jennifer Perkins from ApplaReD Legal Aid's Barbourville office will share information about domestic violence among active military members and their families as well as veterans. They will discuss different military and civil options survivors have and how the military itself handles domestic violence.

This is a FREE pro se (do it yourself) clinic that will be held in person at THE FLOYD CO. PUBLIC LIBRARY from 1:00 pm-4:00 pm. The library is located at 161 N. ARNOLD AVE in Prestonsburg, KY. The Pro Se Family Law Clinic is available for persons from any county in our service area, will be limited to 20 participants and is available for both clients with or without children of the marriage. It will address issues of divorce, custody, and family law. You must register by calling our Central Intake line at 1-866-277-5733.

PRESTONSBURG, Ky. (WYMT) — A group of local attorneys has organized a network of resources, offering assistance to those who have been denied FEMA funding in the wake of the recent devastating flooding that hit the region.
The AppalReD Legal Aid hotline is working with lawyers closest to the impacted people, connecting them with one of more than 20 volunteer attorneys. The AppalReD hotline will help make connections. You can contact the hotline at (844) 478-0099.
Beattyville, Kentucky, is blighted by a lack of jobs and addiction to painkillers.
